RCMP looking for suspect in Wembley fire hall, public works building break-ins

Beaverlodge RCMP are continuing to search for the suspect they believe is responsible for a pair of break-ins in Wembley earlier this month – one at the fire hall and one at the town’s public works building.

The first occurred on Thursday, Feb. 4 at approximately 5 a.m. at the Wembley Fire Department. Authorities say surveillance footage shows a suspect had forced entry into the building by breaking glass and was carrying a bag or toolbox when the suspect fled on foot.

The Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Service then arrived on scene to help track the suspect, but the suspect’s trail was lost.

Then on the morning of Friday, Feb. 5, Beaverlodge RCMP received a report that the Town of Wembley’s Public Works Building had been broken in to.

RCMP say an investigation revealed that at around 1:30 a.m. that day, a suspect had broken in and stole a ring of keys which contained keys to equipment and vehicles.

Police say the suspect in this incident was believed to be wearing a black jacket with a hi-vis stripe as well as blue jeans, black boots, and a black toque/hat.
