Another Nomination for Townes

Tenille Townes nominated for 2021 JUNO Award for Country Album of the Year

Tenille Townes is up for yet another music award, this time for a 2021 JUNO.

Townes has been nominated for Country Album of the Year for her album “The Lemonade Stand.” The other nominees for the category are MacKenzie Porter, Lindsay Ell, Jade Eagleson and Dallas Smith.

The nomination comes just over a week after Townes claimed the Female Artist of the Year award and Single of the Year award for “Come As You Are” at the Country Music Alberta Awards.

The Grande Prairie product was nominated for two JUNO’s in 2020, but did not claim the award for either Breakthrough Artist of the Year or Songwriter of the Year.

Townes is a seven-time Canadian Country Music Association award winner. She has also claimed two Academy of Country Music awards in her young career, as well as a Country Music Association Award.

The JUNOs will broadcast from Toronto with a 50th anniversary awards show on May 16.

The Weeknd is leading this year’s award nominees. The Toronto-raised singer, born Abel Tesfaye, picked up six nods in some of the top Junos categories.

Among them, he grabbed a Single of the Year nod for his chart-topping hit “Blinding Lights,” Album of the Year with “After Hours” and Artist of the Year.

He’s also nominated for Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year and the Fan Choice award, which is voted on by viewers.
