Lion’s Den Pub settles in at new home

“The Lion’s Den Pub” officially opened its doors on St. Patrick’s Day at the old Tony Roma’s location on the bypass.

The locally-owned pub was previously located across the street from GPRC for 20 years but was mainly known as The Den Pub and Carvery.

Todd Zahorodniuk, the Owner of The Lion’s Den Pub, says while they enjoyed their time at their location across the street from GPRC, an opportunity came up to get into the Tony Roma’s building, which was something he couldn’t refuse.

“It’s a beautiful building and suits the pub. My lease was come and due and I thought I’d have a look over here. Once I talked to the landlords here, it just made sense to move over.”

Zahorodniuk tells EverythingGP one of the main reasons why he decided to move back to the Lion’s Den Pub name was because of the look and feel of the building.

“I thought with moving over here, because of all the oak and brick in this building, we’d go back to that traditional style pub. Just for how it’s suited, it just made sense to go back to this name.”

With The Lions Den Pub now settled into their new location, the venue will feature a refreshed menu.

“We’ve added some stuff, we still kept some of the old favorites, but we added a cajun corner,” explained Zahorodniuk. “When we used to have Jake’s Down South, it was a cajun restaurant and that’s my favorite food, so I wanted to add that in there.”

“We’ve added some really fantastic poutines in there and a few other items here and there. It’s a really good menu and we’ve gotten some really good responses on the food.”

Once COVID-19 public health restrictions are lifted, Zahorodniuk mentioned the pub has lots of activities planned.

He adds he’s excited that the pub was able to open on St. Patrick’s Day and hopes it will continue to be a destination for years to come.
