Jim Pattison Broadcast Group rebrands as “Pattison Media” and launches “AMPLIFY Canada – Think Local”

Apr 7, 2021 | 10:30 AM

The company that owns EverythingGP, Big Country 93.1, Q99, and GP Auctions has announced a rebranding while also announcing an idea to promote local businesses.

The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group will become known at Pattison Media as of May 1.

Company President Rod Schween says in a news release that the new name is the next step in going from a broadcast to a multi-media operation.

“Over the past 8 years, we have been growing, preparing, and reorganizing Pattison Media for the next evolution for our company. Our vision has always been that we need to grow beyond existing audio and video delivery platforms. The organization has, and will continue to have, a strong foundation in audio and video, but ultimately, we are a local content company, and that truly is what is at our core. Radio and television will be in our DNA for a long time to come, but especially since the arrival of the COVID pandemic, we have seen an acceleration of the changes in consumer habits, and therefore are committed to embracing and accelerating our involvement in new platforms,” adds Schween in that same release.

The company has 48 radio stations, 17 news portals, and three television stations in 36 communities around western Canada.

A new logo for Pattison media was also unveiled.

“Our revised logo features 3 Js in honour of our owner, Jimmy Pattison, which come together to symbolize the 3 components of media that form the foundation of our organization – audio, video, and digital. The subtle ‘play button’ in the middle of the new mark is also a universal symbol of moving forward, which we wholeheartedly embrace as we prepare our organization for post-COVID times,” adds Schween.

The company also announced a new idea called AMPLIFY Canada. The year-long effort to highlight stories of community groups and local businesses and people will start Canada Day.

That same release says this is meant to highlight “those that have flourished, those that have recreated themselves and even those that might need our help to continue serving their markets. This support will come in the form of PSA campaigns, news stories, business profiles, contesting, on-air announcements, website, and social media campaigns, and podcasts which will encourage us all to “Think Local” first.”

This effort will also include a new AMPLIFY Canada podcast to share some of the more inspiring stories

People will be able to send in nominations through company websites. Each nomination means an entry in a prize draw for the person who sends it in, with a grand prize draw of $10,000 set for June of 2022.

Nominations open on June 1. More details will be announced in the next several weeks.
