City of Grande Prairie surpasses 500 active COVID-19 cases, County of Grande Prairie passes 200

The City of Grande Prairie now has more than 500 active cases of COVID-19 while the County of Grande Prairie has passed 200.

The Saturday update from Alberta Health says the City’s total is now 502, up 17 from Friday’s update. There have been 47 new cases found and recoveries are up 30.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there are 201 active cases after 18 new cases and 12 recoveries were confirmed.

Updated totals for the Peace Country are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 2,544 cases (502 active, 2018 recovered, 24 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 826 cases (201 active, 621 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 480 cases (28 active, 448 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 14 cases (two active, 12 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 54 cases (three active, 51 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 17 cases (two active, 15 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 119 cases (six active, 103 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 505 cases (28 active, 466 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 270 cases (nine active, 261 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 509 cases (18 active, 491 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 77 cases (13 active, 63 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 113 cases (seven active, 105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 253 cases (five active, 247 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 100 cases (one active, 99 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,293 cases (44 active, 1,229 recovered, 20 deaths)

Hospitalizations rose by 16 from Friday to 349, with 84 of those people in intensive care. In the North Zone, there are 41 people in the hospital because of COVID-19, six of them in an ICU. Hospitalizations in the North Zone are up by three from Friday, while one more patient in intensive care.

Five more deaths have been reported in Alberta. The total is now 2012.
