Active COVID-19 case count drops below 500 in Grande Prairie

The province says the active COVID-19 case count in the City of Grande Prairie is back below 500.

Alberta Health says there are 479 active cases in the city, down 23 from Saturday’s update. Recoveries are up 34 and 11 new cases have been detected.

The active case count in the County of Grande Prairie is up two to 203. recoveries are up nine and 11 new cases have been found.

Updated totals for the Peace Country are as follows:

· City of Grande Prairie: 2,555 cases (479 active, 2052 recovered, 24 deaths)

· County of Grande Prairie: 837 cases (203 active, 630 recovered, four deaths)

· M.D. of Greenview: 480 cases (24 active, 452 recovered, four deaths)

· Birch Hills County: 14 cases (two active, 12 recovered)

· M.D. of Spirit River: 56 cases (five active, 51 recovered)

· Saddle Hills County: 17 cases (two active, 15 recovered)

· M.D. of Smoky River: 121 cases (eight active, 103 recovered, 10 deaths)

· Big Lakes County: 513 cases (36 active, 466 recovered, 11 deaths)

· M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 271 cases (10 active, 261 recovered)

· M.D. of Peace: 510 cases (19 active, 491 recovered)

· M.D. of Fairview: 77 cases (13 active, 63 recovered, one death)

· Clear Hills County: 113 cases (six active, 106 recovered, one death)

· Northern Sunrise County: 253 cases (five active, 247 recovered, one death)

· County of Northern Lights: 102 cases (three active, 99 recovered)

· Mackenzie County: 1,296 cases (46 active, 1,230 recovered, 20 deaths)

Hospitalizations rose by 27 to 376, and 90 of those individuals are in intensive care, up six from the 84 reported Saturday. In the North Zone, there are 43 people in the hospital because of COVID-19, up two from Saturday. The number of North Zone patients in intensive care is up one to seven.

One more Albertan has died because of COVID-19. The total is now 2013.

There were 14,861 tests completed for April 10. Those tests identified 1183 new cases. That is a positivity rate of 7.96 per cent.
