Grande Prairie adds 64 new COVID-19 cases, Alberta adds 2,433

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 64 new cases of COVID-19 and 33 recoveries for Friday, April 30, bringing the active case total in the City up by 31 to 466.

The County of Grande Prairie saw 21 new cases added along with 18 recoveries for Friday. There are 191 active cases in the County.

Across Alberta, there was a single-day record of 2,433 new cases identified following the completion of 20,457 tests. Those tests had an 11.9 per cent positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day April 30 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,311 cases (466 active, 2,819 recovered, 26 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,165 cases (191 active, 970 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 517 cases (22 active, 491 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 20 cases (two active, 18 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 77 cases (10 active, 67 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 25 cases (two active, 23 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 143 cases (11 active, 122 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 678 cases (99 active, 567 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 313 cases (34 active, 279 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 600 cases (62 active, 538 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 104 cases (nine active, 94 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 133 cases (three active, 129 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 304 cases (33 active, 270 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 116 cases (five active, 111 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,558 cases (147 active, 1,389 recovered, 22 deaths)

There were 646 Albertans in hospital for COVID-19 as of Friday night, a decrease of three over the last 24 hours. Of those, 152 patients are in intensive care, the same as the day prior.

In the North Zone, 83 people are in hospital (up three), 15 of whom are in intensive care (down one).

There was one new death reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours. There have now been 2,083 deaths recorded in Alberta due to COVID-19 complications.

As of Friday, 1,597,666 doses of vaccine have been administered in the province, with 34,953 of those doses being administered on Friday.

299,929 people have received two doses of the vaccine, meaning they are fully immunized.

Approximately 29 per cent of Albertans have received at least one dose of vaccine.
