Alberta teachers, child care workers eligible for COVID-19 vaccine starting Tuesday
Teachers and other child care workers in Alberta will be able to book their appointments for a COVID-19 vaccine starting Tuesday.
Premier Jason Kenney made the announcement of the province’s vaccine rollout expansion Monday afternoon, saying appointments will open up to all teachers, support staff associated with schools such as bus drivers, custodians, educational assistants and administration, as well as child care workers, on May 4.
“We know how challenging this pandemic has been on our front-line workers. They have worked incredibly hard throughout this pandemic, continuing to teach and provide support for young people every day,” said Kenney. “By offering them the vaccine, we are making schools, daycares and communities safer throughout our province.”
This will open up vaccines to more than 52,000 certificated teachers, 29,000 support staff and 24,000 child care workers.
