Grande Prairie adds 41 new COVID-19 cases, 46 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 41 new cases of COVID-19 and 46 recoveries for Sunday, May 2, bringing the active case total in the City down by five to 465.

The County of Grande Prairie added 10 new cases along with eight recoveries for Sunday. There are now 192 active cases in the County.

Across Alberta, there were 2,012 new cases identified following the completion of 15,058 tests. Those tests had a 13.2 per cent positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day May 2 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,376 cases (465 active, 2,885 recovered, 26 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,186 cases (192 active, 990 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 519 cases (20 active, 495 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 20 cases (two active, 18 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 77 cases (nine active, 68 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 25 cases (one active, 24 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 144 cases (10 active, 124 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 691 cases (90 active, 589 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 321 cases (41 active, 280 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 622 cases (82 active, 540 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 108 cases (13 active, 94 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 133 cases (three active, 129 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 306 cases (29 active, 276 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 117 cases (five active, 112 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,594 cases (176 active, 1,396 recovered, 22 deaths)

There were 658 Albertans in hospital for COVID-19 as of Sunday night, an increase of ten over the last 24 hours. Of those, 154 patients are in intensive care, down one from the day prior.

In the North Zone, 86 people are in hospital (up five from Saturday), 16 of whom are in intensive care (up one).

There was four new death reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours. There have now been 2,090 deaths recorded in Alberta due to COVID-19 complications.

As of Sunday, 1,640,303 doses of vaccine have been administered in the province, with 18,997 of those doses being administered on Sunday.

301,398 people have received two doses of the vaccine, meaning they are fully immunized.

Approximately 29.9 per cent of Albertans have received at least one dose of vaccine.
