Grande Prairie adds 22 new COVID-19 cases, 37 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 22 new cases of COVID-19 and 37 recoveries for Monday, May 10, bringing the active case total in the City down by 15 to 492.

The County of Grande Prairie added seven new cases and 19 recoveries for Monday. There are now 161 active cases in the County.

Those new figures bring the City of Grande Prairie to a rate of 662.7 active cases per 100,000 population, while the County sits with a rate of 506.8 per 100,000. The provincial average sits at about 568.1 cases per 100,000, with 24,998 active cases in the province.

Across Alberta, there were 1,449 new cases identified following the completion of 11,852 tests, resulting in a 12.7 per cent test positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day May 10 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,672 cases (492 active, 3,154 recovered, 26 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,277 cases (161 active, 1,111 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 547 cases (35 active, 508 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 27 cases (eight active, 19 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 79 cases (five active, 74 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 26 cases (two active, 24 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 144 cases (seven active, 127 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 705 cases (48 active, 645 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 354 cases (49 active, 305 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 660 cases (90 active, 570 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 121 cases (19 active, 101 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 134 cases (one active, 132 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 306 cases (three active, 302 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 124 cases (10 active, 114 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,717 cases (194 active, 1,499 recovered, 24 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by 15 to 705 as of Monday night, while ICU patients increased by five to 163.

In the North Zone, 100 people are in hospital (up four), 15 of whom are in intensive care (same as the day prior).

There were three new deaths reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours. A total of 2,119 Albertans have now died as a result of COVID-19.

As of Sunday, 1,947,004 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province, with 30,047 of those doses being administered on May 10.

319,779 Albertans have been given their second dose and are fully immunized.

About 35.7 per cent of Alberta’s population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
