May 11, 2021 | 5:53 PM

Grande Prairie Storm goaltender Joe Howe was named the AJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old posted a 2-0 record over the weekend against the Sherwood Park Crusaders. He allowed just one goal in the two-game series. He earned a 1-0 shutout victory on May 7.

Howe is the second Storm player to win the Defensive Player of the Week title this season. Cade Mason was given the accolades twice this season, once back in November and once again in March.

Howe finished this season with a 7-3 record. He will continue his hockey career next year playing for Cornell University.
