Cash and Camping Lottery outside viewing area closed after some prizes damaged

The Swan City Rotary Club says they are closing the outside viewing area at their Cash and Camping Lottery headquarters at the old Hansen Ford building, after they say a break-in occurred early Friday morning which caused damage to some of the prizes.

The club says the prizes that were affected are being sent away for repairs.

“They will be good as new for our winners!” says club president Natalie LaCroix, in a release sent out Saturday evening.

“The inside will remain open, we are putting as much in there as possible for you to come see.”

They add residents can still purchase tickets at the location (10101 112 Street), online or by phone or mail until July 4th.

This is the 21st year for the lottery, and was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are non-profit groups of volunteers working hard to raise money for our community. After canceling this lottery last summer with the arrival of the pandemic, we have community groups counting on the money we raise more than ever!” they add.

“This is the community’s money, and we are committed to making this lottery a huge success despite the setbacks.”

The winner of the 21st edition of the Cash and Camping Lottery will see the winner have an option of two grand prizes, each valued at approximately $220,000.

“The first we call the ‘Lake Lover’s Package’. It’s a lake lot with a 40′ park model home placed there, plus a [16’ Tracker Pro Guide Fishing Boat] and $5,000 cash to help set it all up,” said Dave Cook, the Lottery Chair in an interview with EverythingGP in March.

“The other package we call the ‘Road Warrior,’ which is a really nice [Jayco Melbourne] 24′ motor home with a [16’ Tracker Pro Guide Fishing Boat].”

Along with the grand prize packages, over $460,000 worth of prizes, including RV’s, boats, stay-cations and more are up for grabs through the Cash and Camping Lottery.
