Muskoseepi Park spillway and dam inspections to occur June 8

Those near the Muskoseepi Park reservoir will notice some construction work on June 7 & 8.

On June 7, water levels in the Muskoseepi Park reservoir will be significantly lowered to accommodate safe inspections of the spillway structure, scheduled for June 8.

The work is part of the City of Grande Prairie’s Bear River Control Structure Spillway Assessment and Study.

In order to obtain full access to the spillway structure, crews will be pumping water from below the spillway and from the reservoir to detour it downstream. Water flows will be maintained as part of the City’s approved environmental permits to conduct the inspection.

Pathways above and adjacent to the structure will be closed for six to eight hours on June 8 as crews conduct the inspection. Detour routes will be put in place.
