UPDATE: Power restored on south end of Grande Prairie

UPDATE: ATCO says power has been restored on the south end of Grande Prairie. Smaller outages remain in the VLA, Hillside and Scenic Ridge neighbourhoods.

ATCO Electric says nearly 5,000 customers are without power on the south side of Grande Prairie Wednesday.

ATCO says the neighbourhoods in the city affected include Country Club West, Country Club Estates, Countryside South, South Patterson and parts of Mission and Signature Falls.

Power is currently expected to be restored by 1 p.m. An assessment into the cause of the outage is underway.
