Emergency department in Fairview closing for 12 hours Monday evening
The emergency department at the Fairview Health Complex will be closing again on Monday evening due to a lack of physician coverage.
The emergency room will be closed for 12 hours, from 7 p.m. June 28 until 7 a.m. June 29.
Nursing staff will remain on-site providing triage and assessments, and will be referring patients to emergency departments in surrounding communities like Grimshaw, Spirit River, Peace River and Grande Prairie as needed.
The emergency room has closed at times in recent weeks due to a lack of doctors in the area. That lack of coverage has led Central Peace-Notley MLA Todd Loewen to question Health Minister Tyler Shandro on when Fairview can expect to see a proper number of physicians brought to the area.
