COVID update July 12

No new COVID-19 cases reported in Grande Prairie over weekend, City down to three active cases

From July 9-11 there were no new cases of COVID-19 reported in the City of Grande Prairie. One case was taken away and moved to another zone, while there was one recovery in the Swan City. Grande Prairie is now down to three active cases.

One COVID-19 case in the County of Grande Prairie was also moved to another zone over the weekend, there were no recoveries in the County. There are currently two active cases in the County.

Across the province, Alberta added 90 new cases of COVID-19 over the three days, there are currently 624 active cases in the province. There was a 0.5 per cent test positivity rate over the weekend.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of July 11 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,960 cases (four active, 3,928 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,415 cases (two active, 1,408 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 594 cases (589 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 82 cases (one active, 81 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 32 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 149 cases (two active, 137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 728 cases (13 active, 702 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 380 cases (378 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Peace: 702 cases (12 active, 690 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 144 cases (13 active, 129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (one active, 134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 311 cases (310 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,942 cases (13 active, 1,903 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations fell by 14 to 112, while ICU patients dropped by one to 34.

In the North Zone, 13 people are in hospital (down three) and one is in the ICU (down one).

Fatalities

There were no deaths reported as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta from July 9-11. So far, 2,307 people have died as a result of COVID-19 in the province.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 34,273 people have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 24,457 people, or 39.7 per cent of the population, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,788,643 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 2,079,950 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 74.1 per cent of eligible Albertans have been given at least one dose of the vaccine, while 55.3 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
