A member of the 2850 Grande Prairie Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps. is gaining first-hand experience in the world of technology and cyber security.

Through the Cadets program, Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Jeremey Larter is taking part in the Cadet Cyber Training Course where he is gaining knowledge in the areas of cyber security, securing multi-platform operating systems.

The Cadets say this was one way the program was able to pivot to provide its members with real world educational opportunities during the pandemic.

“I enjoy using technology and wanted to learn more about it. I also wanted to learn more about computers before I head into post-secondary as I dream of being a part of the progressing technological world,” said Larter.

MWO Larter says this is just one opportunity he has been able to be a part of since joining the Cadets, as he has also been able to take part in activities such as marksmanship and biathlon.

He has had the opportunity to do summer training up in Whitehorse, Yukon on two separate occasions.

“The cadet program has provided lots of opportunities and fun for me, which I would not have gotten otherwise, teaching me how to be a leader and to be confident in myself, as well as being persistent.
