Dawson Creek Exhibition & Stampede back in 2021

Jul 18, 2021 | 7:00 AM

August 11 will be a big day in the Mile 0 City.

That will mark Day 1 of the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede. It will run August 11 to 15.

The event is going ahead this year after being cancelled last year during the pandemic.

President Connie Patterson says this is a big deal for Dawson Creek and for fans all over the Peace Country.

“All our people come from as far away as Peace River, Valleyview, Grande Prairie, Fort St. John, Fort Nelson, and up to Whitehorse and then over to Prince George. We have a huge following that comes, and they absolutely love rodeo and chuckwagons and (the) agriculture fair.”

She adds it won’t be known until closer to the time what restrictions might be in place.

“On the 27th, they (BC government) have another announcement that we’re hoping (means) it’s going to open up more and then there should be another one somewhere around the 10th of August. We know that we’re 50 per cent of capacity of whichever is greater. We bring in about 35,000 people for the agriculture fair and the wagons.”

Patterson says the area where the rodeo and wagons take place is separated from where the agriculture fair will be held.
