Grande Prairie adds 52 new COVID-19 cases from August 6-8

The City of Grande Prairie added 52 new cases of COVID-19 from August 6-8, along with six recoveries, bringing the Swan City to 193 active cases.

In the County of Grande Prairie, active COVID-19 cases grew from 22 to 39 over the weekend.

Alberta as a whole added 1,017 new cases of COVID-19 over the three-day span, there are currently 3,380 active cases in the province.

Updated active case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 8 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 193 active
  • County of Grande Prairie: 39 active
  • MD of Greenview: four active
  • MD of Spirit River: five active
  • MD of Peace: 15 active
  • MD of Fairview: four active
  • MD of Smoky River: three active
  • Big Lakes County: five active
  • Clear Hills County: one active
  • County of Northern Lights: two active
  • Mackenzie County: 12 active

Hospitalizations across Alberta grew by 16 to 129 as of Sunday night, with 26 of those in the ICU. In the North Zone, 16 people are in hospital, with one in the ICU.

In Grande Prairie, 57.9 per cent of the eligible population (35,694 people) has been given at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 49.1 per cent of the eligible population (30,238 people) are fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 76.4 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 66.9 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
