45 new cases of COVID-19, 13 recoveries recorded in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 45 new cases of COVID-19 for Wednesday, August 11, along with 13 recoveries. That brings the total number of active cases in the Swan City to 259.

In the County of Grande Prairie, active cases grew by five from 49 to 54.

Across Alberta, there were 550 new cases identified on 8,585 tests, resulting in a 6.4 per cent test positivity rate. There are currently 4,101 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Active case totals, as of August 11, among Peace Region municipalities are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 259 active (+32)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 54 active (+5)
  • MD of Greenview: seven active (+1)
  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: one active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: 18 active (+1)
  • MD of Fairview: three active (-1)
  • MD of Smoky River: seven active (+1)
  • Big Lakes County: eight active (+2)
  • County of Northern Lights: three active (+1)
  • Mackenzie County: 15 active (-)

Over the last 24 hours in Alberta, hospitalizations grew by right to 146, while ICU patients grew by five to 36.

In the North Zone, there are 11 people in hospital due to COVID-19, none of whom are in intensive care.

In Grande Prairie, 58.2 per cent of residents eligible (aged 12 and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 49.6 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 76.6 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 67.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
