Grande Prairie adds eight new COVID-19 cases, 56 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded eight new cases of COVID-19 and 56 recoveries for Wednesday, October 13, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 297.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 14 new cases and 21 recoveries discovered on Wednesday. There are now 118 active COVID-19 cases there.

As a whole, Alberta added 916 new cases following the completion of 12,733 tests on Wednesday, resulting in a 7.5 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 14 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 297 active (-48)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 118 active (-7)
  • MD of Greenview: 82 active (-6)
  • Birch Hills County: Four active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 17 active (+1)
  • Saddle Hills County: 27 active (-1)
  • MD of Peace: 78 active (-15)
  • MD of Fairview: 41 active (-5)
  • MD of Smoky River: 34 active (-7)
  • Big Lakes County: 99 active (-2)
  • Clear Hills County: Six active (-1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 43 active (-2)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 26 active (-4)
  • Mackenzie County: 168 active (-23)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 11 to 1,016, while the number of ICU patients dropped by five to 231.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 197 are unvaccinated, 12 are partially vaccinated, and 20 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 158 people in the hospital (down three), while 14 people are in the ICU (up one).

There were 29 deaths reported to Alberta Health as a result of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the province’s death toll up to 2,930.

In Grande Prairie 70 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (58 per cent of the total population), while 59.3 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (49.2 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 85.6 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 76.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
