Sudan security forces shoot dead 2 protesters, doctors say
CAIRO (AP) — The Sudan Doctors Committee, a professional union, says security forces have shot dead two people during a mass protest against the country’s recent military coup. Saturday’s fatal shootings came despite repeated warnings by the United States and the United Nations that the new military rulers must show restraint and allow peaceful protests.

CAIRO (AP) — Thousands of Sudanese poured into the streets Saturday, chanting “revolution, revolution” to the sound of whistles and drums, to protest against a military coup earlier this week that is threatening to derail the country’s fitful transition to democracy.
Pro-democracy groups had called for mass protests across the country to press demands for re-instating a deposed transitional government and releasing senior political figures from detention.
