Grande Prairie records 22 new COVID-19 cases, 44 recoveries over weekend

The City of Grande Prairie added 22 new cases of COVID-19 and 44 recoveries from October 29-31, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 158.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were three new cases and 22 recoveries recorded over the weekend, bringing its active case total down to 64.

As a whole, Alberta added 1,210 new cases from October 29-31 following the completion of approximately 24,357 tests, resulting in a 4.9 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 31 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 158 active (-22)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 64 active (-19)
  • MD of Greenview: 18 active (-3)
  • Birch Hills County: four active (-2)
  • MD of Spirit River: six active (+2)
  • Saddle Hills County: 13 active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 47 active (-12)
  • MD of Fairview: 10 active (-3)
  • MD of Smoky River: seven active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 79 active (-5)
  • Clear Hills County: seven active (+2)
  • County of Northern Lights: seven active (-2)
  • Northern Sunrise County: five active (+2)
  • Mackenzie County: 183 active (-6)

Across the province, hospitalizations decreased by 76 to 689, while the number of ICU patients went down by 23 to 157.

Of those admitted to intensive care with COVID-19, 132 are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 91 people in the hospital (down 16), while nine people are in the ICU (down one).

There were 18 deaths from COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health over the last 72 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,111.

In Grande Prairie, 72 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (59.7 per cent of the total population), while 64.1 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (53.2 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 87.1 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 80.3 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
