Grande Prairie RCMP asking people to report suspected drug houses

Nov 14, 2021 | 7:00 AM

Grande Prairie RCMP are asking people to watch for drug houses in their neighbourhoods.

Constable Lindsay Ralph says anyone who suspects something might be a drug house should report it to the RCMP.

“Just some things to pay attention to that would be out of the norm in your neighbourhood would be residents being unfriendly, they appear very secretive, (they) don’t really want people to see what they are doing with their activities.”

“You may notice some enhanced privacy measures, so you may see blocks of security cameras installed at the residence. You might see the windows are blocked off.”

Ralph adds there are other signs that could also indicate a drug house.

“You may notice a lot of vehicles coming and going from the residence at all times, day or night, but frequently over the night-time hours. You’ll see a high volume of visitors. They stay for a very short period of time.”

“Sometimes you’ll see the residents coming out, meeting with vehicles, coming back-and-forth. No one is staying for a long period of time. They just seem to be coming and going.”

Ralph says a suspected drug house can be reported to the detachment at 780-830-5700 or to Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods at 1-866-960-7226 or www.scan.alberta.ca

Drug Houses can also be reported to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.p3tips.com, or through the P3 Tips app.
