The City of Grande Prairie and DownTown Association are inviting the community to tune into a live stream of the annual Christmas tree lighting on Sunday, November 28.

This will be the second consecutive year there is no in-person event for the annual light-up due to the on-going pandemic.

However, residents can tune in at 6 p.m. on the last Sunday of the month to the City’s YouTube channel. The live stream will also be shared to the Downtown Association and City’s Facebook page.

The event will include season’s greetings from Mayor Jackie Clayton and Downtown Association Executive Director, and new city councillor, Wendy Bosch.

“The Christmas tree lighting downtown is a Grande Prairie tradition we are excited to carry on this year,” said Mayor Clayton. “The live stream is a great opportunity to take part from the comfort of your own home.”

“The special lighting of our Christmas Tree represents all the warmth of the holiday season,” added Bosch. “The DownTown Association wishes everyone a joyous holiday this year.”

Both Clayton and Bosch add residents can also expect a special message from Santa Claus himself during the live stream.
