Carbon capture, sequestration technology being added to Saddle Hills County gas plant
A gas plant just northwest of Grande Prairie will soon see a carbon capture and sequestration facility be added to it, thanks in part to funding from the provincial government.
The project will see Advantage Energy install a carbon capture and storage facility at its Glacier Gas Plant in Saddle Hills County. It is estimated the CCS facility will cut about 46,800 tonnes of emissions each year and improve the plant’s emissions intensity by 22 per cent.
The project was one of seven from around Alberta to split approximately $100 million from the province’s Industrial Energy Efficiency and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage program to help construct the CCS facility.
The funding is a stream from within the province’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction fund.
