Two new exhibits open at Art Gallery of Grande Prairie

Nov 28, 2021 | 6:30 AM

Art Gallery of Grande Prairie Executive Director Jeff Erbach says the next two months are a very extraordinary time for residents to visit and participate in the art gallery.

Besides the continuation of the Passion Projects show, which features the work of Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, and is on display until January 9th, Erbach says they have recently launched two additional exhibits.

“One is an art experience. It is mostly for children, but it is an interactive experience where people can share their own personal inspiration, based on the inspirations they see in the passion project show.”

“They can also create art projects dedicated to the Northern Lights,” he explained.

Erbach adds the other is an exhibit called “Bleeding Borders”, which features the work of former Pakistan native Amin Rehman.

“It is a show about the tumultuous, socio-political situations in borderlands in West-Asia and the Middle East. It is a really fascinating show,” he said.

“I think it is very important to get a view and stories of what is happening in those communities, outside of what you see or hear in the news. These stories are coming directly from people through a very sensitive artist, who has spent a lot of time in that area of the world.”

Bleeding Borders is on display until March 20th, while the interactive experience goes until January 20th.

All of the exhibits are free to attend.

Erbach says they are able to bring exhibits like this to Grande Prairie thanks in part to public support, in the form of memberships, donations, and sponsorships from the business community.
