Whispering Ridge Community School welcomed several new modular classrooms on Saturday November 27, and students and staff at the school are anticipated to move into their new classrooms in the new year.

The modular classrooms have been brought in to replace the Grade one and playschool modular classrooms which were damaged in April, due to a fire at the school.

Now with the modular classrooms in place, the Peace Wapiti Public School Division says electrical, plumbing and HVAC work will take place. Work to tie in all the units with roofs, flooring, and skirting will also be taking place.

Officials mentioned in a release they are thankful for the community who opened both their hearts and doors following the fire earlier this year.

“PWPSD would like to send its most sincere thank you to the Grande Prairie Alliance Church, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service, and the rest of the community for showing great support during the last several months.”

Abby Stilwell, Assistant Principal at WRCS says they are grateful for the Grande Prairie Alliance Church who opened its arms to students and staff.

“Making this incredibly challenging situation one that has been filled with love, kindness, and generosity,” she said.

“Their facility has allowed us to utilize beautiful learning spaces right here in our own community, which has meant the world to us and our families. Our appreciation for the wonderful staff at the church runs incredibly deep and we will be forever grateful.”

Students and staff are anticipated to move into their new modular classrooms in January.
