Snow removal continues in both city and county

Dec 22, 2021 | 10:23 AM

The latest dumping of snow has area snow clearing crews busy.

In a social media post, city of Grande Prairie officials say crews will be clearing and sanding priority 1 and 2 roads on Wednesday, along with picking up windrows on priority 2 routes, and plowing and sanding the trail network.

They remind residents that a parking ban remains in effect on all priority 2 routes between 8 am and 9 pm from Monday to Friday.

Meanwhile, County of Grande Prairie crews will be back in Whispering Ridge and Westlake Estates on Wednesday to wrap up residential snow clearing in those neighbourhoods.

On Thursday, crews will move into Wedgewood, Taylor Estates, and Maple Ridge, as well as returning to Hythe.

They remind residents that digital “No Parking” signs will be placed at the entrances to these areas when snow clearing is taking place.

When those signs are up, street parking is not allowed between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm. Vehicles left on the street during those times may be ticketed or towed.

The County also reminds homeowners that piling snow from your own property onto roadways is illegal, and is subject to a $100 fine.
