County moving campground reservations online for 2022

Jan 13, 2022 | 12:47 PM

The County of Grande Prairie is encouraging users to make their camping reservations for online this year.

Starting on Saturday, January 15, people will be able to make online reservations for the Pipestone Creek campground.

Later in the month, the County will expand online reservations to include Bear Lake, Demitt, Hommy and Kleskun Hill campgrounds. This will launch a one-year pilot program for the 2022 camping season.

The Hythe campground will also begin accepting reservations online later in January.

“Whether you are looking for a getaway close to home or plan to host friends and family in the area this summer, we are excited to welcome visitors to begin reserving at Pipestone Creek Campground for the upcoming season,” says Christine Rawlins, Parks and Recreation Manager.

“With several enhancements to the camping and day-use areas completed over the past few years, including additional powered sites in Loops A and D for a total of 78 through the campground, a rejuvenated and expanded trail system, and day-use gazebos that can be reserved for private functions and birthday parties, even regular visitors will find something new to enjoy.”

The County says the move to online reservations is in alignment with provincial and national park campgrounds and will help make it easier for those who want to make reservations.

Booking details will continue to be made available on the County website and social media channels.
