Growing the North Conference heading virtual for second consecutive year

Jan 18, 2022 | 1:52 PM

The 2022 Growing the North Conference is heading virtual for the second consecutive year.

This year’s conference is scheduled to take place from February 22-24 and will bring together business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the Peace Region.

The conference will focus on a wide range of topics with a variety of presenters. This year will mainly focus on leadership, the future, truth and reconciliation, transportation, innovation, health care, forestry, oil and gas, alternative energy, agriculture, tourism, hemp opportunities, and the economy.

Grande Prairie & District of Commerce CEO Tanya Oliver says there will be a wide range of opportunities for people to network and grow.

“We’re going to be doing a mixture of the keynote presentations as well as multiple breakout sessions as well as multiple networking sessions. All participants will have a robust set of options to connect with each other and to hear the information.”

Last year’s Growing the North Conference was also held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While it’s disappointing not meeting in person last year and again this year, Oliver tells EverythingGP being virtual gives them an opportunity to reach more people in the region.

“We’re hoping for it to reach even more attendees. We cover a vast area up here and going virtual does enable more participants to tune in that might not otherwise have the time to travel to get to the conference in person,” she said.

The lineup of speakers includes names like Kendal Netmaker, Todd Hirsch, and David Goldstein.

Oliver mentioned they’re able to book so many talented and accomplished speakers because of all the partners who help drive business in the region.

“We now have ten community partners around the table to help promote the region and put this on. It’s always so incredible what you can do with the support of other organizations in the community. We all have the same goal to attract and enhance businesses and the investment opportunities.”

Tickets for the weekend conference cost $199.

There are also a limited quantity of Taste of the Peace boxes available for attendees to buy for an extra $150. The boxes include locally-sourced products highlighting businesses in the Peace Region.
