Good Buy to Hunger Campaign

Over $45,000 donated from New Horizon Co-op ‘Good Buy to Hunger Campaign’

Thanks to the generosity of community members in the Grande Prairie region, New Horizon Co-op has donated over $45,000 to help feed those hungry in the community.

This past December, New Horizon Co-op’s members and patrons raised $30,086, with the New Horizon Co-op donating $15,000 towards the program.

New Horizon Co-op Marketing Team Leader Amanda Pinard says this brought in a grand total of $45,086 for the Good Buy to Hunger Campaign.

“Our Good Buy to Hunger fundraising happens all year long, but December is when we have our big push where we collect donations from customers at our till coin boxes or they can purchase window decals,” she explained.

“We also have prepackaged Good Buy to Hunger bags that are ready for purchase as well, so it makes it really convenient to give back to their community by adding a Good Buy to Hunger bag to their purchase.”

The donations from Good Buy to Hunger support the communities of Grande Prairie, Clairmont, Sexsmith, Rycroft, La Glace, Beaverlodge, Hythe, Grande Cache, Falher, Smoky River, Valleyview, Spirit River.

“Unfortunately there’s such a need for food for the less fortunate, so we definitely support all of our local food banks, school lunch/breakfast programs as well as a variety of other organizations that are helping to feed the hungry in the communities which we’re serving,” Pinard mentioned.

New Horizon Co-op has been running their annual Good Buy to Hunger campaign for over 20 years, and Pinard expresses gratitude towards the communities, members, and customers for their generosity.

“A big thank you to our members and customers, because of them, we have been able to raise a lot of money every year.”
