Bandaged Paws accepting new volunteers for first time in two years

Jan 20, 2022 | 1:54 PM

Bandaged Paws says it is re-opening its doors to volunteers in the community who want to help spend time with some of their animals.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began back in March 2020, Bandaged Paws closed its doors to the public, in an effort to help keep staff and animals safe.

With restrictions slightly eased from what they were in the past, and with more people vaccinated, Natasha Arsenault with Bandaged Paws felt now was the time to let volunteers back into the facility.

“We put it on hold when COVID hit and we’re just getting it back up and running now. We are kind of in dire need for extra help,” she said.

“We are taking extra precautions of course with new people in the facility and with our current staff and volunteers. It’s almost been two years since we have had new volunteers, so we’re pretty excited about that.”

Arsenault tells EverythingGP they are accepting volunteers of all ages who are interested in lending a hand running the shelter.

“If they have a love for animals, we can find a task for them,” she explained. “We welcome all ages, youth just need a parent or guardian with them while they are volunteering. There is something for everyone based on their skill level and interest.”

Activities such as walking the dogs, playing with the animals, and helping keep the facility clean are some of the options of activities volunteers can choose to help with.

Arsenault adds they’re also looking to have more in-person outdoor events once the weather gets warmer.
