Nominations now open for Minister’s Seniors Service Awards

Feb 3, 2022 | 5:34 PM

Nominations are now open to recognize the dedicated and energetic efforts of Albertans who serve seniors with a 2022 Minister’s Seniors Service Award.

Albertans are encouraged to nominate individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations that are supporting seniors through their volunteerism, philanthropy, innovation or outstanding service.

“For an amazing 24 years, the Minister’s Seniors Service Awards have recognized the inspiring individuals and businesses that have provided volunteer service to seniors. I am sure you know someone who deserves a nomination – the neighbour who performs at seniors centres or the community group that helps seniors file their income tax returns,” said Josephine Pon, Minister of Seniors and Housing.

Up to nine awards will be presented to individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations. This includes the Special Service Award, first presented in 2021, that highlights an area of particular importance to seniors in any given year. For 2022, this award, Building Better Together, will go to an individual, organization or business that worked with others to improve services to seniors.

Albertans can submit nominations for the 2022 Minister’s Seniors Service Awards online, through mail and email.

“They deserve our thanks and recognition. Please consider nominating a devoted volunteer or an organization that makes a difference in your community,” said Pon.

The deadline for nominations is May 2. Details are at alberta.ca/MSSA.
