Three dead in house fire on Siksika Nation

SIKSIKA NATION, AB – The Siksika First Nation community has suffered a tremendous loss after three died during a house fire Saturday morning.

The First Nation’s chief and council said in a statement, “these types of losses are devastating not only to the families of the deceased but also to first responders and the community as a whole.”

It says the fire started early Saturday on the Siksika Nation west of Brooks.

The identities and ages of the three have not been released and there was no word on the cause of the fire.

No additional information will be given at this time.
