Grande Prairie adds 24 new COVID-19 cases and 39 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 24 new COVID-19 cases and 39 recoveries for February 7. There are 453 active cases in the city (down 15).

The County of Grande Prairie added 12 new cases of COVID-19 along with 15 recoveries on Monday, there are 183 active cases remaining in that region (down three).

Across Alberta, 1,667 new cases were identified from 4,269 tests, resulting in a test positivity rate of 39 per cent. There are currently 38,265 active cases in the province.

Provincial officials say with the rollout of rapid tests to most households, the actual number of new COVID-19 infections in the province is likely higher than what is being reported.

Active case totals, as of February 7 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 453 active (-15)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 183 active (-3)
  • MD of Greenview: 96 active (-)
  • Birch Hills County: three active (+1)
  • MD of Spirit River: 16 active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: four active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 89 active (+1)
  • MD of Fairview: 34 active (+7)
  • MD of Smoky River: 73 active (+1)
  • Big Lakes County: 103 active (+3)
  • Clear Hills County: five active (+1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 15 active (+3)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 18 active (-5)
  • Mackenzie County: 62 active (+2)

The province saw hospitalizations increase by 81 patients to 1,623, while the number of ICU patients increased to 129 (up 11). Of those in the hospital, 417 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 62 of the 129 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 127 people are in hospital (up eight), six of whom are in the ICU (same).

Two COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the North Zone to Alberta Health over the past 24 hours, 438 people in the North Zone have now died as a result of COVID-19.

There were 13 COVID-19 related deaths reported across the province on Monday. To date, 2,686 Albertans have now died as a result of COVID-19.

So far, 89.9 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 86.3 per cent of those eligible have received at least two doses.
