Beaverlodge Hospital emergency department without onsite physician coverage until Thursday

Alberta Health Services has announced that there will be no onsite physician coverage at the Beaverlodge Hospital emergency department until 8 am Thursday morning.

Nursing staff will remain on-site to provide urgent triage and assessments and referrals for patients to alternate Emergency Departments in neighbouring communities.

Patients are still asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency, with those calls being re-routed to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

AHS says this is a temporary measure and that they are working hard to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time.
