Police say they on March 16 at 10:41 p.m. they located a vehicle in the area of 162 Avenue and 102 Street that had been reported as stolen.

Attempts to stop the vehicle led to it being driven off the road. A female suspect in the vehicle at the time was arrested, but a male suspect fled on foot and drove off in an idled police cruiser.

The cruiser was eventually recovered, but a number of items were taken from it, including an RCMP patrol jacket and toque, handcuffs, a hard body armour, and a 40 mm extended range impact weapon.

The suspect was David Pinfield who was eventually arrested and taken into custody.

The 31-year-old Pinfield from Valleyview appeared in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 21 and was charged with the following:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from police
  • Possession of stolen property x2
  • Resist arrest
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Break and enter
  • Theft over $5,000

He has since been remanded into custody and will appear in court again on April 4.

The female who police arrested was 29-year-old Sara Desjarlais from Grande Prairie. She has been charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, assault on a police officer with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

She has been released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie court on April 20.
