Members of the Grande Prairie community were recognized at the Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) President’s Awards Luncheon.

The awards were established back in 2004 and honours donors and outstanding alumni from NWP.

The following awards were presented:

  • Board of Governors Award of Distinction – Natalia Reiman
  • The Distinguished Alumni Award – Yuri Smith
  • The Distinguished Volunteer Award – Brenda Krahn
  • The Indigenous Community Impact Award – Joseph Redhead and Elizabeth Peterson
  • The Steps to the Greater Alumni Award – Jesse Griffin

“We are so very fortunate to have such exceptional talent, goodwill and entrepreneurial energy in our communities,” said Justin Kohlman, the CEO and President of NWP.

“These dedicated alumni and friends have been integral in not only supporting NWP’s advancement but also in uplifting our community with kindness, generosity and compassion.”

NWP Board of Governors Chair Bridget Hennigar says the award recipients are true leaders in our community.

“These awards are reserved each year for remarkable individuals or groups within our community,” said Hennigar. “It is always such a pleasure to reward the true leaders who work tirelessly for the benefit of us all.”

After the awards were handed out, there were also 12 new members inducted into the NWP President’s Council.

The President’s Council consists of individuals who have completed service to NWP on the Board of Governors or Alumni/Foundation Board of Directors, volunteered as Chairperson of a major fundraising event, made a planned gift to the institution, or received a distinguished NWP award.
