The RCMP Major Crimes Unit says 27-year-old Adam Pearson has been arrested after two years on the run for the first-degree murder of Cody Michaloski.

Back on Oct. 13, 2019, police located Michaloski deceased inside of a residence in an apartment building on Poplar Drive.

An investigation was launched immediately after the discovery.

Initially, a lengthy investigation into Michaloski’s death back in October led to police executing two search warrants and an arrest warrant on May 27, 2020, in Kelowna.

Police arrested 25-year-old Benjamin Pearson for the first-degree murder of Michaloski.

Shortly after the arrest of Benjamin Pearson, police obtained a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Adam Pearson on May 28, 2020. He was also said to have been involved in the first-degree murder of Michaloski.

Over a year went by and police were unable to locate Adam Pearson. In July 2021, mounties learned Adam Pearson had been in the United States.

On July 17, 2021, Canada then made a request to the United States for the provisional arrest of Adam Pearson under the US-Canada Extradition Treaty. He was located and arrested by the FBI nine days later on July 26 in Minneapolis.

Canada subsequently requested Adam Pearson’s extradition to Canada to stand trial for the alleged murder. He was returned to Canada, pursuant to the extradition request, on February 18, 2022.

Once in Canada, Adam Pearson had a bail hearing, which resulted in him being held in custody. His next court appearance is April 8, 2022, in Grande Prairie Provincial Court.
