Organizers excited for Bear Creek Folk Festival lineup

Apr 12, 2022 | 1:05 PM

The Bear Creek Folk Festival unveiled its main 2022 lineup just over a week ago.

This year’s lineup will feature names like Corb Lund, The Trews and Serena Ryder.

Festival organizer Sarah Card says they’ve been holding onto this lineup for quite some time.

“We’re so excited to finally be back. We’ve been hanging onto this lineup since 2020, so it’s nice to get it out there,” she explained.

“We’ve got Serena Rider, Steve Earle & the Dukes, Corb Lund. The Trews are coming in and doing an acoustic show and those are just some of the bigger names.

The entire 2022 Bear Creek Folk Festival lineup will be unveiled in late May.

Card tells EverythingGP, she’s excited to welcome so many different artists to the Swan City for the first time.

“Honestly, one of my favourite things about this event is all of the fantastic and unknown in this area artists who are up and comers in other parts of the world and we’re able to introduce them to Grande Prairie,” she stated.

“We have 30 artists from all over the world coming in and it’s going to be a really fantastic event and I’m so excited to finally get to present it.”

Card mentioned while the lineup was two years in the making, organizers didn’t have a tough time convincing the artists to come back.

As mentioned, the festival will be returning to its normal location in 2022 on Borstad Hill in Muskoseepi Park. Last year, Muskoseepi Park played host to a smaller festival at the Amphitheatre.

It will feature four stages as well as other areas for fans to enjoy the festival.

“This year, we are back to our full-scale actual folk fest. It’s on that great big hill and we have three daytime stages and a main stage. We have a kids area back with kids activities and it’s going to be fantastic,” Card explained.

“The one thing that we’re carrying over from last year’s festival is site-wide licensing. People will now be able to go grab their beverage from our service area and they’ll be able to go enjoy it at one of the stages or take it around with them on-site instead of having to stay in our beer gardens.”

Food trucks and other amenities will also be available.

Card expects between 5,000 and 6,000 people per day to attend the event.
