Grande Prairie Rotary clubs join together in fundraising efforts

May 9, 2022 | 4:16 PM

Grande Prairie’s four Rotary Clubs are joining in a partnership starting in 2023.

The clubs will work together to not only market and run events but fundraise and disperse money to non-profits across the city as well. The clubs say this is the first partnership of its kind in the district and it is even rare on the global scale.

Swan City Rotary Club President Tab Pollock says this is not an idea that came out of thin air.

“It’s something we’ve been talking about, discussing, and working through for the last ten years and in the last couple of years it’s come to fruition,” said Pollock.

This was a decision that was made to make the whole process of fundraising to donating more seamless, Pollock added.

“I think most people that support Rotary, don’t even realize which club they might have been supporting in the past. Most non for profits probably weren’t aware of which club was giving them the funds, as long as they got the funds they needed for their projects or whatever they were working on, that’s the most important thing.”

Pollock added the Cars for Christmas and Cash and Camping lotteries evolve every year, while they have added Ribfest and The Scarecrow Festival that will collect money to be dispersed back into the community.

All clubs will work together to give out fundraised money as a joint venture committee, but each club will have their own funds as well to give out to some of the smaller not for profits in the community as they see fit.
