Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum gearing up for AGM and activity-filled summer

May 9, 2022 | 2:26 PM

The Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum will be holding its Annual General Meeting on May 19, 2022. New board members will be picked, and financial statements and a report on current and upcoming museum plans will be looked at.

Executive Director of the museum Linden Roberts says new exhibit cases are coming as well as a changing gallery in the Rotary Room every three weeks.

A 2-hour rafting experience called the Floating Fossil Tour is launching this summer to look for fossils along the Wapiti River.

“We’ve got the rafts in and we are doing the final training,” says Roberts.

Other activities and programs will be held this summer such as Paleontologist for a Day, Fossils, Floods and Footprints Tours, Fossil Prep Labs, and much more.

Paleontology studies along the Wapiti and tributaries will pick up again this summer as well with a new Museum Curator.

“Research will be continuing in the region; with a group from around the world, including the University of Alberta and our new curator of paleontology Dr. Emily Bamforth doing the research.”

Being a part of the River of Death and Discovery Dinosaur Museum Society is “an opportunity to show support and provide input,” Roberts says.

“We value community input and community engagement and we are looking for some new members for our board.”

The AGM will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Aykroyd Family Theatre.

You can become a member of the museum’s society by purchasing a membership at the museum.
