Thieves target Nitehawk

May 12, 2022 | 6:00 AM

The general manager at Nitehawk says it is disheartening that someone would steal from a non-profit.

Johnathan Clarkson says they noticed a break-in when they arrived at the chalet Monday morning for work.

“(We) came up the stairs and went to go open up in (the) administration office and noticed that the door had been hammered through.”

“Once we noticed that, we were looking closer and noticed that our safe had been stolen as well.”

Clarkson says the safe was located by RCMP.

“I called the RCMP that morning and got them engaged and about two hours after I initially made contact with the RCMP, they had contacted us and notified us that the safe had been located in one of the gravel pits by the Rock Valley motocross track.”

“The safe had been cut open. All the contents were gone.”

He adds among the items taken was the money in a staff fund.

“That our employees have the option to pay into and those funds go towards purchasing gift cards for staff incentives throughout the season as well as helping us purchase gifts and do events for our staff at the end and throughout the season.”

Clarkson says anywhere from 80 to 100 people work at Nitehawk during the winter and the fund contained just under $3000.

He is hoping anyone who has seen anything or knows anything about this theft can share their information with the RCMP.
