Death at Mercer Peace River pulp mill on Saturday

A 53-year-old has passed away after what is being described as a “tragic and fatal workplace accident” on June 11 at the Mercer Peace River pulp mill.
The person was an independent contractor working at the mill.
Roger Ashfield, Managing Director of Mercer Peace River said in a news release: “We are saddened about the loss of life of one of our contractor’s employees and our thoughts are with the individual’s family and colleagues. An investigation of the accident has been started and we are working with the authorities and the contracting company to find out how this tragic incident occurred,”
The company says it has initiated an incident investigation and is cooperating with the authorities.
