Crews working early in downtown Grande Prairie Monday and Tuesday

Jun 27, 2022 | 6:25 AM

Construction crews are up early, working on removing and replacing concrete seat walls in Grande Prairie’s downtown core.

Seat walls provide seating and serve as a barrier for shrubs at intersections and mid-block crossing locations.

On June 27 and 28 from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., a large crane will be used to move the structure.

To ensure the safety of the crew as well as the public, traffic in the westbound lanes will be closed on 100 Avenue between 98 Street and 99 Street.

Westbound traffic on 100 Avenue is detoured at 98 Street to 101 Avenue.

The work is being done in the early morning hours to cause less disruption to commuters, businesses and visitors to downtown.
