Locally owned gym takes over Motion Fitness and all members

Jun 27, 2022 | 12:35 PM

Iron Nation Fitness will be the new home for Motion Fitness gym members come July 1, 2022.

Motion Fitness will be closing their Grande Prairie location that same day. Locally owned gym, Iron Nation Fitness will be taking over the Clairmont Motion Fitness under their banner.

President of Iron Nation, Stefanie Doyle says the current member for Motion will be keeping their existing membership rates until it expires.

“Then they will have the option to renew whenever that time is… and then the Iron Nation members will have access to the Clairmont location now. So everybody will be able to go to both locations.”

With Iron Nation taking over all members from Motion Fitness, Doyle says there is going to be an influx of members using the gym.

“What we’ve done, we have been preparing for this for quite a while, so we’ve done some renovations here in Grande Prairie and we’ve ordered 12 new pieces of equipment and two more sets of dumbbells to make room for the new members.”

Iron Nation will completely renovate the Clairmont location and add all new equipment according to Doyle.

“For a couple of weeks to a month, people are going to be adjusting to change. There’s going to be some good feelings and some bad, but we are going to be here and try to do the best we can to mitigate anybody’s fears.” Doyle adds about the transition period for current and new members.

“I think we’ve made some good changes to the building to make people feel comfortable, there’s a kind of beginner section and then there’s the more experienced section. Then there’s the upstairs for people to do cardio and watch and learn from above,” she says about the Grande Prairie Iron Nation location.

The support for the transition from the gym community is “probably 90% of great-great support with this move, people are very excited for us… and then you have the people that are just unsure, they’re scared and not sure what to expect and I think that’s normal.”

“We wish Motion Fitness the best in their endeavors down south and we feel honoured to have taken over their members,” notes Doyle.

Iron Nation will be looking for new employees to be at their newly acquired location in the Crosslink County Sportsplex in the very near future. Doyle says they will be making an announcement through their Facebook page.
