Two St. Joe’s Celtics win Football Alberta Scholarships

Football Alberta has announced the five scholarship winners for 2022.

Among the five winners are two St. Joe’s Celtics players, Carter Kettyle and Matthew Ljuden.

Kettyle received the Alberta Bowl Scholarship and Ljuden received the Rural Alberta Scholarship. Both boys were teammates for the 2021 season.

The scholarships are offered to students going to an Alberta post-secondary institution and playing for an elite football team.

The $2,000 is to be used to help with fees in their first year of post-secondary football.

The winners were selected out of a large pool of players who played the first full season of high school football since the pandemic, with most candidates not playing football in 2020 at all, but still persevered and are ready to compete at the post-secondary level this fall.
