Visitors now able to explore natural trail system at Pipestone Creek Campground

Jul 2, 2022 | 8:00 AM

Nearly seven kilometers of new natural woodland trail have been added to Pipestone Creek Campground and Park, and visitors are encouraged to go and explore.

The single-track trail system winds through the Wapiti River valley and is ideal for hikers and mountain biking in the warmer season and snowshoeing in the winter months.

Motorized vehicles are prohibited from using the trails and within the park.

County Parks and Recreation Manager Christine Rawlins said in a news release “We are excited to welcome overnight campers and park visitors to explore the natural beauty of Pipestone Creek.”

“The variety of clearly-signed natural woodland trails are accessible to different skill levels and provide another low-cost opportunity for families to head outdoors and explore the County.”

There are signs at each trailhead displaying the level of difficulty for each trail.

Interpretive signage for local flora and fauna is to be posted along the trails later this summer.

The trails were made possible thanks to the Alberta Environment and Parks Recreation Partnership Initiative Grant.

If you want to take the map with you while you are on the trails, a printable version can be found on the County website and at the information kiosk at Pipestone Creek Campground.
