Flair Airlines not flying out of GPA for summer service

Jul 19, 2022 | 1:22 PM

A lot of confusion about catching and booking flights through Flair Airlines at the Grande Prairie Airport has been happening in the past few months.

Passengers have been flocking to the GPA to get on their flight, but the airline is not currently providing service, despite Flairs website listing Grande Prairie as one of their locations.

Brian Grant, CEO of the GPA Commission says the airline had released a schedule earlier this year indicating they would be providing flights to Toronto and Vancouver, two days a week.

“In July, we got notice that they would not be offering the service. First, it was scheduled to happen in April, and then they pushed it back to May, and then in June we had not had word so they did indicate when we contacted them that they had scheduling problems with fewer aircrafts in service than they expected when they announced in March.”

“They pulled out of Grande Prairie for the summer season along with a couple of other airports in our region being Prince George and Fort McMurray for summer service to Vancouver.”

Grant notes that the airline blames a lack of aircraft and scheduling issues for flight cancellations and push backs.

At the time of the interview, Grant says nothing is set in stone for the resumption of service in Grande Prairie by Flair.

“However, they have indicated that they may be looking at some service to us for the winter season, and as of yet they haven’t confirmed what that would be.”

Flair previously flew out of the airport during the 2020 summer season for six weeks, cutting their service off prematurely.

Grant suggests contacting Flair directly if you have issues with a previously booked flight through GPA, since there is no service being provided.

“We have seen some instances, even this week, where Flair has included Grande Prairie in a schedule for summer sales. It’s basically a glitch in their system that picked it up, but it’s not being offered.”
